San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey has unquestionable speed, but his younger brother just might have an edge over him.
Luke McCaffrey, a product of Rice and an NFL draft hopeful, participated in on-field drills at the NFL combine on Saturday and posted some impressive numbers. In the 40-yard dash, McCaffrey ran a 4.47, narrowly beating Christian's time of 4.48 from 2017.

The McCaffrey family has a long history in football, so it's no surprise to see another brother performing well at the NFL combine. The oldest McCaffrey brother, Max, played quarterback at Duke before a brief NFL career. Another McCaffrey brother, Dylan, is currently a quarterback at Northern Colorado. Their father, Ed, was an NFL wide receiver for more than 10 years.
Christian has had a successful seven-year career so far, earning NFL Offensive Player of the Year in 2023 while leading the 49ers to a Super Bowl appearance. The running back had 1,459 rushing yards, 564 receiving yards and 21 total touchdowns last season.
Now, Luke is looking to follow the family tradition of suiting up on Sundays.
McCaffrey played four collegiate seasons between Nebraska and Rice, becoming the Owls' top receiver in 2023, notching 992 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns.
