In what is a barren free-agent market for quarterbacks, veterans like Shaun Hill are finding themselves in demand by teams looking to solidify their depth at the position. The Vikings reportedly already made an offer to Hill.

Hill Reportedly Signs With Vikings

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported that Hill has agreed to join the Minnesota Vikings.

Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported that the deal $6.5 million over two years, but could reach $7.5 million.

On March 9, ESPN.com's Ben Goessling reported on Minnesota's interest, saying: "Shaun Hill has an offer from the Vikings; and will be in touch with them later today,"

Hill's career will be coming full circle with a return to Minnesota. The Vikings signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2002, and he appeared in one regular-season game in 2005 before joining the Amsterdam Admirals and subsequently reigniting his NFL career.

Considering Teddy Bridgewater has a lock on the starting job, approaching an experienced quarterback like Hill makes sense for the Vikings. Master Tesfatsion of the Star Tribune in Minneapolis thinks he'd be about the best Minnesota could hope to acquire in that regard:

Think Shaun Hill would be a solid backup option for Teddy Bridgewater given what's available on the market #Vikings

Hill's presence would be great for the development of Bridgewater, who emerged as perhaps the best quarterback in last year's draft class.

Plus, the 35-year-old has played nine years in the league, throwing for 8,038 yards, 49 touchdowns and 30 interceptions. If Bridgewater goes down with an injury, the Vikings can rest easy knowing they have somebody with starting experience already on the roster.
