ATLANTA -- Between 20,000 to 30,000 pounds of groceries were donated to the Atlanta Community Food Bank from a foreclosed grocery store.
The Super Giant on Donald Lee Hollowell Pkwy. recently closed and some of their products are going to the food bank.
ACFB reached out to ask for volunteers to help package and load the dry food and non-food items at the store Wednesday morning.
In an unrelated move, Kroger donated 21 tractor-trailers of non-perishable food to the Atlanta Community Food Bank. Customers and employees in their Atlanta Division donated more than $568,600 through "Can Hunger" and $191,500 from "Bring Hope to the Table" drives, according to Kroger. This is the equivalent of 1.9 million meals for the food bank.
