Personal Statement

I have played tennis since I was four years old, and I’ve been competing since I was nine.  I have a strong work ethic, and I’m confident that I have the potential to make a positive contribution to a women’s team as a dedicated student-athlete.  Over the years, I’ve learned much more than how to swing a racquet.  Tennis relies on individual integrity, good sportsmanship, and conflict resolution, in a way that other sports do not.  I believe that playing tennis has helped these qualities become my strengths.  I understand that every time I walk onto a tennis court, I am an ambassador of the sport, at the same time that I make a statement about my character to everyone around me.  The excitement of competition and the confidence developed from a solid fitness program and years of match experience continues to make playing tennis a joy.  I am continuing to strive for improvement, and I look forward to representing my sport and my future college team in the best possible light.
