Personal Statement

The most nerve racking 11-footer of my life. If I drain it, we take the tournament, if not we tie for first. I line up the putt one last time. As I spread my feet apart I squeeze my putter until my knuckles seem pale. I take back my putter and then cluck! It's rolling rolling rolling, clink clink! Clink Clink! The noise it makes as it hits a break and rolls into the cup. We won! For as long as I can remember, I have been obsessed with sports.

Since I could walk, I was swinging my 7 iron. I started my freshman golf season this week. My low round this year is a 2 over 74 at Horn Rapids golf course in Richland, WA. I have a swing coach from Pasco, WA - he is Golf Universe's very own Jeff Bender. I work out with a personal trainer every Tuesdays and Thursdays before school. I love to get after things and am a very very very competitive athlete.

My favorite subject in school is math and I plan on pursuing a degree in engineering.  I attended a two-week engineering program at CB Tech Summer Academy in Moses Lake, WA this past summer and really enjoyed it. I also love to read and enjoy the outdoors -whether I'm playing sports or helping my father around the dairy.  I am a member of the Columbia Basin Livestock 4H group and show dairy animals at the local fair. I am also in my high school's FBLA chapter and am the Student Body secretary for my freshman class. I also play the piano for Sunday mass service, and love to socialize and meet new people. I am a boy scout and will complete my Eagle Scout project this summer.

My greatest asset is my desire to work hard and do whatever it takes to reach the next level.  I have been told by my coaches that I have the qualities to be a great leader because I work well with other people and work hard at everything I do. My passion; however, is golf.  I am committed to working very hard academically and physically to improve my game of golf and do whatever it takes to earn a spot on a college team.  I have several collegiate goals and dreams.  I plan on earning a bachelors degree in engineering and continue my post-graduate education to earn a masters degree in a field of engineering.  My athletic collegiate goal is to lead a team to a tournament win and to ultimately win a NCAA championship.
