Nike is going back to the past for a retro release of the Air Jordan "Barcelona Days" sneakers on April 25.

In addition to updating an old shoe for a modern crowd, this is also a monumental staple in the Air Jordan canon. Michael Jordan wore these shoes with the Dream Team during the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona.

Here's the release information you need for the retro offering, via Nike.com:

In addition to that information, Nike also provided an inspiring description of the Air Jordan "Barcelona Days" sneakers:

All eyes were on Barcelona in the summer of 1992, where basketball was elevated to the international stage. The newest Air Jordan 7 Retro takes inspiration from the culturally rich city of Barcelona, blending an array of bright colors on a Wolf Grey and Dark Grey base.

Based on that description, Burning Sole tweeted out a picture that provides a look at the vivid colors mentioned:

Barcelona is one of the most visually stimulating cities in the world. Just do a search of the city's beaches for evidence of this.

Because of the city's beauty, as well as its laid-back vacation atmosphere, the design on this shoe works well. There's a surfer-like feel to the design on the tongue, as well as the bold gray colors that jump off the shoe.

The Mexican Unit posted an Instagram photo featuring a side and bottom view of the sneakers that also shows how much of a role colors play in the overall design value:

It's hard to sell a shoe based on the sole, but Nike's design for the "Barcelona Days" is beyond what you will normally find.

In addition to the almost Lego/puzzle-like look of the sole, the Air Jordan logo just pops off that part of the shoe.

Sneaker Plugz offered a close-up side view of the sneaker that shows off even more of the grays and various colors meshing together to create something spectacular:

The best word to describe the "Barcelona Days" sneaker is eclectic. There are a lot of things in the design that wouldn't work if you saw them individually, but the full picture brings it home in terrific fashion.

Retro Air Jordan shoes are always a hot commodity. In December, the "Legend Blue" edition generated $80 million in sales over the course of one week.

This release of the "Barcelona Days" sneaker, worn while playing for one of the most famous teams in basketball history, figures to do more big business for Nike and Jordan Brand.
