The Philadelphia Eagles and three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver A.J. Brown have reportedly started discussions regarding a potential contract extension.

Speaking Thursday on the WIP Morning Show (h/t Audacy's Andrew Porter), 94WIP's Howard Eskin said the following about where things stand between Brown and the Eagles:

"I have kind of heard different things that—whether it is preliminary discussions—they are thinking about a new contract for A.J. Brown. Not trading A.J. Brown, they're thinking about an extension for A.J. Brown. ... They've already started some conversation with A.J. Brown's agent about an extension."

Per OverTheCap.com, Brown is currently set to become a free agent in 2027 after signing a four-year, $100 million contract extension in 2022.

After spending his first three NFL seasons with the Tennessee Titans, Brown was traded to the Eagles in 2022, and he has enjoyed two highly productive campaigns since then.

In 2022, Brown registered 88 receptions for a career-high 1,496 yards and matched his career high with 11 touchdowns.

He was nearly as good last season, reeling in a career-high 106 catches for 1,456 yards and seven scores.

However, Brown missed the Eagles' NFC Wild Card Round playoff loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last season, and his presence was sorely missed, as Philly mustered just nine points.

Given Brown's clear importance to the offense and the fact that he is still only 26 years old, it comes as little surprise that the Eagles are trying to lock him into a long-term deal and likely give him a raise in the process.

Earlier this month, the Eagles signed No. 2 wideout DeVonta Smith to a three-year, $75 million extension, matching the average annual value of $25 million Brown's deal.

While Smith has been productive through three NFL seasons, including posting over 1,000 yards in each of the past two years, Brown has unquestionably earned a bigger deal.

A baseline may have been set Wednesday, as star wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown agreed to a four-year, $120 million extension with the Detroit Lions, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

St. Brown racked up 119 grabs for 1,515 yards and 10 touchdowns last season, giving him his second straight year with at least 100 catches and over 1,100 yards.

Brown's next deal likely belongs somewhere in the neighborhood of the $30 million per year St. Brown is set to earn, and if the Eagles are willing to approach that number, they will have their wide receiver duo in place for years to come.
