Minneapolis Crash Video: Five Women Killed When Driver Strikes Car

Eyewitnesses recorded the Minneapolis crash video on their smartphones and shared it on social media.

On June 16, 2021, Minneapolis experienced a devastating incident that profoundly impacted the local community and gained widespread national attention. 

Witnesses captured footage of a collision between two vehicles, which was later shared on social media, showcasing the tragic loss of five young women.

The driver at fault, Derrick John Thompson, was trying to escape from a State Trooper when he recklessly ran a red light at a speed of 95 mph, well exceeding the prescribed speed limit. 

While being pursued by the police, Derrick John Thompson, aged 27, crashed into a car carrying Sabiriin Ali, aged 17, Sahra Gesaade, aged 20, Salma Abdikadir, aged 20, Sagal Hersi, aged 19, and Siham Adam, aged 19. 

The victims, who were last-minute shopping and getting tattoos for a friend’s wedding, lost their lives in the fatal crash.

The horrific incident has shocked the community, and the police have launched an investigation.

Although Thompson survived the crash, he fled the scene and sought refuge at a nearby Taco Bell, only to be apprehended by the police and taken into custody.

Moreover, he is currently in the hospital, receiving treatment for his injuries.

The loss of these five young women deeply impacted the community. 

They worked in the Dar Al-Farooq Islamic Center in Bloomington, Minnesota, where they dedicated their time as volunteers.

Sabiriin Ali and her mother served as caretakers, while Salma Abdikadir taught Arabic literacy to children. 

These women were shining examples of hope within their community.

They had very promising futures ahead.

Khalid Omar, the Director of the Islamic Center, described the young women as invaluable contributors, and their untimely deaths created an irreplaceable void. 

The aftermath of the crash was undoubtedly sorrowful.

It culminated in the burial of all five victims on June 21, 2021. 

The community came together to honor and mourn the loss of those who lost their lives in the tragic accident.

In response, the Islamic Center launched a public fundraiser that successfully accumulated over $344,000 to support the families of those affected.

The victims’ families have appreciated the outpouring of contributions.

Moreover, it will ease the financial burdens the victims’ families face during this difficult time.
