Personal Statement
Growing up in a Bordertown in South Texas has shown me poverty, financial struggles, and hardship. I grew up working in the fields at the age of seven years old to help provide for my family. My life experiences continue to inspire me in fulfilling my dreams to provide a better life for my future.
Looking back, all I have ever known is to help provide for my family and focusing on my academics. The one escape I ever had from balancing out my schedule of hard labor and schoolwork was doing what I loved, and that was playing basketball. It was my one route I could relieve my mind and just breathe. The game will forever be a form of my backbone to continue to inspire me in accomplishing all of my dreams and aspirations.
