TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - France defender, Eliaquim Mangala, is reportedly close to making a move to Manchester City from Porto.

City’s manager, Manuel Pellegrini, revealed after the 3-0 Community Shield defeat by Arsenal that Mangala is keen to join the Barclays Premier League champions.

Pellegrini said, “Some papers are maybe missing but we continue having interest in the player, he wants to come so we will see what happens in the week.”

Earlier Pellegrini had accidentally included Mangala when asked about the additions made to his squad over the summer.

“We have a very strong squad,” Pellegrini said as quoted by The Guardian.  “The players that we have brought in – Fernando, Caballero, Sagna and Mangala – will help the team and will make us stronger defending but I hope we continue to be strong offensively. I’m happy with the squad.”
