Personal Statement

Soccer is my biggest passion. Playing this year in the OWSL in a U21 division has given me the chance to play in a highly competitive league against many players that are already playing university level soccer. In a league like this anticipating, reacting quick, and physical fitness are so important, especially when playing against players usually 2-5 years older than me. I was glad that my team participated in a program called Aftershock in the off season, as it focused on fitness, agility, and core strength, which I think helped a lot. I also do private training once a week to work on endurance, shooting, and technical skills.

I play multiple positions but I usually play on the wing where I can use my speed and crossing abilities to set up scoring chances. I also play striker, which I hadn't played before last year, and I find it is a fun and challenging position that I am gaining confidence at. I try to be a leader on the field, by talking and encouraging my teammates, and also try to lead by example in my work ethic on and off the field. I find it just as rewarding to be involved in setting up a teammate to score, as scoring a goal myself.

I have hoped for some time to have the opportunity to play at a collegiate level and continue to play the game I love, I am planning to study Nursing or in Health Sciences, and would like to find a school that has a good academic program, but also a soccer program that I could help push to the next level.
