Personal Statement
My goal is to match my education and swim goals in college where I can earn a scholarship and contribute to the team. My biggest strength is bringing energy to teams and getting the most out of my training partners, I am focused on the success of the team. I have always been a goal oriented swimmer, and have been told I have a good work ethic. Since my first year swimming I set a goal to make it to the Louisiana State Short Course Championship meet. My coach thought I was setting my sights to high, I made it to the state meet and proved that hard work and positive attitude was part of a winning formula. Similiarly, this year my goal was to make the Virginia Zone Team, earlier this month I competed in Richmond, Va at the Eastern Zones championship.,
I also know what it is to face hard times, in October of 2011 I had my appendix removed. I developed a bad infection in the course of the illness and was hospitalized for 45 days and had to be placed on strong antibiotics for two months. The antibiotics had to be given to me though an IV pump, thus I was unable to do little more than get out of the bed. I lost 20 lbs of muscle and had to start over swimming- the day they removed the IV I was back in the water. I continued to have some medical complications through the fall of 2013, when I was finally cleared of by the last of my specialists. My progress in my sport has really started in the last 12 months.
I have only grown from that experience and I am excited to see what this next year has for not only my swimming but, my academics as well. Feeling healthier than I ever have I look forward to this next chapter.
Thank You.
