Personal Statement

My name is Katie Sheahan and I play for North American Hockey Academy (NAHA). I am an ambitious and driven person, ready for different obstacles thrown at me. I’m a good candidate because I can help my team out as the last defensive position to stop the pucks that are shot at me. I am very focused when needed to be and I make sure to always be zoned in. I can do the work and deliver the results as a goalie. I can fit in and I love meeting new people. I thrive on challenges and constantly set goals for myself, so I have something to strive toward as a goalie.  I'm always looking for an opportunity to do better and be better and to lead others as well. When I’m at the rink, I’m always smiling. I’m always looking for a new person to get to know that I haven’t met before and to make everyone feel welcome. Making others feel welcome is my biggest priority because it just makes life easier and not as hard for the other people you meet.  Also I can be a leader when needed to be, and I just want to help others get better as well. Lastly, I am a quick learner and I’m always prepared and ready to learn new things to better myself.

Something that makes me different is that I’m selfless and I put my team before myself, so that my team can be successful and we can all succeed with each other. I love seeing my teammates above and working towards their goals because it makes me try even harder.  Normally people say to give it their all and always go 100%, but for me thats not it. I always say “work hard at 150%” so I can work harder than most, and give it my all the whole time.

I’ve been playing for 6 years now and since then I’ve won 3rd place in state 2 times, 1st place in state 2 times, 2nd place in state, I’ve won goalie of the week for the Mitch Korn Camp the first year I went, and I have also won hardest worker on and off the ice at GDI USA Goaltending Camp, 2 years in a row.
