Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Karen Barry. I have played for the 03 Hawks for 4 years now and love it here. I love to play soccer and have played since I was a little girl. I am definitely a goals-oriented person. I make an effort to write weekly, monthly, and yearly goals to stay organized and focused. I am very hardworking and driven. I love to attack on the field and I run a lot to stay fit and active. As a freshman, I played soccer while I was running cross country so I ran about 30-45 miles a week. My hobbies include spending time with family and friends, playing tennis and other sports, and doing puzzles and math problems. I participate in many charity events at my church and also the soup kitchen. My faith is very important to me so we go to church almost every week.
Currently, I am in NHS. I tutor a third grade girl along with other kids. I have also contributed to helping my high school and our community. I do many small jobs to make money. I babysit two young boys, and I help out my older neighbor with housework like doing her dishes, vacuuming and yardwork. I shovel in the winter and mow the lawn in the summer and fall to earn money. I am also a certified Michigan soccer referee which I enjoy doing.
I also love math and science. I have always excelled in these classes at school. I am certified in Adult/Child BLS CPR and Choking and in first aid by the American Heart Association. I am also certified in Stop the Bleed by the American College of Surgeons.
