Personal Statement
Aloha Mai Kākou, my name is Jordan Clifford and I am the Captain of my school's Varsity 1 Team and top scorer for my zone traveling team to my last JO's. I was born and raised on the island of Oahu, in Hawai'i. I am a Senior at Mid-Pacific, and primarily play driver/post-up, center, and left flat.
I've been playing Water Polo, and swimming since the 7th grade. I have always been skilled at swimming and enjoyed competitive activities so after a few years I started to perform well and understand Water Polo. Eventually, once I found my passion for the sport, and after being on the team the loses every game my whole life; my goal was made clear. I want to play a crucial role in why a team succeeds, I want to be the best athlete I can possibly be, and I want to be able to motivate my comrades also to become the best athletes they can be.
My mother was the first generation of our Japanese Immigrant family to compete in sports. She instilled in me the mentality that; 'hard work can beat out raw talent when talent fails to work hard', and that even 99% isn't enough. My coaches have described me as 'the hardest working' and coachable. Whether through swimming or Water Polo conditioning, I don't skip sets, don't miss intervals, and I never quit.
Through determination, leadership, and open-mindedness, I hope to continue my waterpolo carrier and hopefully to do so at the collegiate level.
