Veteran role player Joe Ingles is headed to the Orlando Magic on a two-year, $22 million contract after agreeing to the deal Friday, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Ingles, 35, spent one season with the Milwaukee Bucks after playing with the Utah Jazz for the first eight years of his career, where he became one of the elite shooters in the league and one of its most valued role players.
The Jazz's all-time leader in three-pointers made, Ingles will now look to play a key veteran leadership role on a young, talented Orlando Magic team.
He averaged 6.9 points per game to go along with 3.3 assists and 2.8 rebounds on 40.9 percent shooting from three-point range with Milwaukee.
Finishing towards the bottom of the league in three-point shooting, the Magic were in desperate need of someone with Ingles' skillset. He has never had a season in which he's made less than 40 percent of his shots from beyond the arc.
Orlando made just 34.6 percent of their threes last season, sixth-worst in the entire NBA.
The real value that Ingles will bring however comes in his experience and leadership.
The Magic's roster mostly consists of a bunch of recent lottery picks, namely last year's No. 1 overall selection and Rookie of the Year Paolo Banchero. The rest of their core includes talents like Franz Wagner, Wendell Carter, Markelle Fultz and Jalen Suggs, among others.
Ingles will be able to provide a calming presence and guidance to help the franchise push for playoff contention.
Orlando had a fairly successful season last year with Banchero and Wagner at the helm, staying in the play-in picture for most of the year and having one of its most successful campaigns since 2019 when it was the No. 7 seed in the Eastern Conference.
