Personal Statement
My name is Jarrod Harper, and I am entering my Junior Year at Mountain Ridge High School in Frostburg, Maryland tomorrow (August 24, 2010).
Im 5'11 and weigh 205lbs. I run a 4.46 40 yard dash, and my fastest 100m time so far is 11.0. Last year as a Sophomore I was All-Area Honorable Mention as a running back, for Class 1A, West Region, MD Public High Schools. I played varsity as a Sophomore and started every game, making major contributions on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. When I am a Senior, I will have been a 3 year starter on the varsity team. Next year will be my second year playing on the varsity level of competition. The things that my coaches recognize in me are my hard work and dedication in the weight room, on the field, and in the classroom. I know that it is very important to get good grades to be able to play football (or any sport for that matter) and my focus is on being a student/athlete in college as I fulfill my athletic and academic dreams. I know in my heart that I have the "drive" and the "desire" to go on to the next level after High School and play college football and play it at the highest level possible. It has always been my dream since I first played football in the "Pee Wee" league (6 yrs old) to go on after High school and play college football. I know there are alot of young guys out there that say the same thing and want the same thing to happen for them; but I will outwork them and do whatever it takes to play College Football. I play football for the "love of the game". The types of schools that I'm looking for would be medium - large sized schools. Also, the academic program of the schools would have to be a good fit for the major/majors I would want to pursue. The Division level of the school/schools that im looking at would be anywhere from D3-D1 (D1 being my ultimate dream/goal). My desired majors are Nurition Sciences, Physical Therapy/Therapist, and Sport and Fitness Administration. With the climate of today's economy, I would welcome any financial assistance I may be eligible for to pursue my college goals. My athletic goals for the near future are to play on my high school team this year and next, playing hard and tough striving to make the playoffs in our Class. After high school, I want to continue playing football in college as a true Freshman while attending the college that's the right "fit" for me academically. I not only just want to get the chance to play as a true Freshman, but I want to make a major impact as a true Freshman, and to play at the highest level of competition as possible. I am committed to my goals, I am focused on the prize; and I will work tirelessly if given the chance.
