TEMPO.CO, JakartaDozens of students and the Indonesian diaspora in the city of Fes, Morocco, traveled hundreds of kilometers by land to cast their vote at the polling station at the Indonesian Embassy in Rabat on Sunday, February 11. In a written statement by PPI Dunia received Monday, Indonesian nationals rented a bus with a capacity of 50 seats to travel 201.5 km from Fes to Rabat, which took four hours to reach.

"I really appreciate the Indonesians in Fes who took the initiative to rent a bus. Thankfully the cost is cheaper compared to going alone," said Ammar Al Amudi, an Indonesian students' coordinator at Fes.

Despite the long and time-consuming journey, students and members of the Indonesian diaspora in Morocco enthusiastically enjoyed the elections. Not just in Fez, Indonesian students are also spread across other cities in Morocco, such as Marrakech, Tangier and Tetouan.

The voting day was Sunday, which is to reduce the potential for voters not coming due to work or school. In addition, the overseas election committee (PPLN) in Rabat also serves eight voters in Mauritania using the mobile ballot (KSK) method.

With all registered voters served at TPS and KSK, plus 96 people included in the additional voter list (DPTbLN), PPLN Rabat served a total of 419 voters, 80 percent of whom are students.
