The Windsor High School community in Connecticut is grappling with the heartbreaking loss of one of their own. Fifteen-year-old Elijah-Jay Mariano Rivera, affectionately known as EJ, tragically passed away after experiencing a medical emergency during a football practice.

EJ was at football practice when he suddenly lost consciousness. Despite not being engaged in any strenuous football drills or tackling at the time, his condition rapidly deteriorated. The coaching staff immediately provided first aid and promptly called for an ambulance.

Upon arrival, EMTs and Windsor Police Department personnel took over, administering CPR in a desperate bid to save the young athlete’s life. He was then rushed to the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford, accompanied by his distraught parents. Despite the best efforts of the medical professionals, EJ could not be revived.
