TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A woman dances gracefully, arching her body at times until her knees touch her chest. She would then twist around frantically and curl her body up again.

This video is entitled Eggology. Video artist Krisna Murti collaborates with Polish dancer Ewelina Eve Smereczynska to create his masterpiece. In an oval-shaped screen, Ewelina seems like she is trapped inside a giant egg. Like a baby in a mother’s womb.

Eggology is Krisna Murti’s latest piece of art on display at the Salihara Gallery from July 21 to August 4. The artist, currently residing in Bandung, chooses  the theme "Art after Drama" for his newest artwork collection.

He opts to use a video to express his visual masterpieces, exploring space and shapes while continuing to incorporate a story in each piece. Nirwan Dewanto, the curator of the Salihara community, describes Krisna’s work as an artistic video.

Krisna Murti, 56, is known as one of the most popular video artists in the world. He is renowned for his consistency in using new media art to express his thoughts since 1990. His masterpieces have been exhibited in a string of well established outlets, such as the Fukuoka Asian Art Museum, Singapore Art Museum, and the Indonesian National Gallery.

Besides Eggology, Krisna also shows four other videos he has produced since 2011 entitled Dance of the Unknown, Tale of Sangupati, Cup of Tea/The Lagoon, and Branded Fruits Archipelago, which were also screened during Art Stage Singapore 2013.
