Personal Statement
I first started playing basketball in the winter freshman season. I missed the chance to join the team, so I practiced all winter and learned as much as possible about the game. I began to watch more college basketball, and NBA as well to gain more knowledge. I played with the summer team, and got a lot of game experience. I had a feel for what I should expect competition-wise. I continued to develop my skills, and I can say that I have come a long way for being a late interest. I believe I'm a fierce competitor, and I want to win; whether it's a summer league game, for a tournament trophy, or the state championship. My dream, like many other players, is to play basketball at the collegiate level. I believe I have the work ethic and the passion to make that happen in the near-future. My main focus right now is to progress and excel academically as well as athletically. I come from a small town that isn't known for much, but I would never use that as an excuse concerning by goals and dreams. I'm always striving to be the hardest worker when it comes to basketball.
Off the court, I try to contribute to the community in whatever way possible. I volunteer yearly to help at our elementary school's basketball camp. One of my other hobbies is to play guitar, and I've performed at Veteran's Day services to show my appreciation for the soldiers who protect our great country. I do my best to set a good example for younger children and basketball players who look forward to playing in High School. To know that there are people look up to me is very humbling, and it gives me great motivation to be a better person, and succeed wherever life takes me.
