Derrick Henry's decision to sign with the Baltimore Ravens in free agency was not a difficult one.
"It was a no brainer for me," the star running back told reporters Thursday of his decision to team up with Lamar Jackson and Co.
Henry agreed to a two-year, $16 million deal worth up to $20 million with the Ravens in free agency on Tuesday following an eight-year career with the Tennessee Titans.
The 30-year-old goes from a struggling Titans squad to a Super Bowl hopeful in Baltimore. He will lead a running back room that also includes Keaton Mitchell, Justice Hill and Owen Wright.
The Ravens boast one of the most talented offenses in the NFL entering the 2024 season with Henry, Jackson, tight end Mark Andrews and wide receivers Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman.
Henry developed a reputation as a workhorse in Tennessee, molding himself into one of the NFL's best running backs. He earned four Pro Bowl selections, one First Team All-Pro and an Offensive Player of the Year award during his tenure with the franchise.
The Alabama product became one of just eight running backs in NFL history to rush for 2,000 yards in a single season when he rushed for 2,027 yards during the 2020 campaign, which is also the year he won the OPoY award.
Henry exits Tennessee ranked second on the franchise's all-time rushing yards list behind Eddie George with 9,502 rushing yards. He ranks first in Titans history with 90 touchdowns on the ground.
Henry is coming off a 2023 campaign in which he rushed for 1,167 yards and 12 touchdowns in 17 games. He'll be expected to have a similar impact in Baltimore despite Jackson's ability to use his legs.
The addition of Henry could even perhaps take some of that pressure of Jackson and allow him to focus more on moving the ball through the air.
