Personal Statement
My name is Cole Pride and I am a 6'7", 16 year old power forward. I started playing basketball when I was about 6 years old along with other sports like baseball and soccer. Throughout my athletic career I have also played football, tennis, track and field, and cross country. Coming into high school, I narrowed my sports down to tennis and basketball. As a freshman I was about 6'0" and played for the freshman team as a center. My dreams of playing in college were slipping away because, being young for my grade, I was behind the curve in strength and height for my position. Although my dreams were taking a hit, my love for the game never faltered. I then hit a massive growth spurt of about 6 inches after my freshman year and into my sophomore year. This gave me new hope so I began working on my game more than ever before. I found this to be helpful as in my sophomore year I found new confidence and boosted my love for the game. This showed me that hard work really pays off. Now, post junior year 6'7" and still growing, I have high aspirations of playing in college. I am top 6 in my class academically, which has also showed me that results take hard work. I think I am a good candidate for any college team because my career in athletics and academics has showed me what it takes to be successful.
