Personal Statement

My name is Christian Carter and I have played football since I was nine years old.  My goal is to play at the highest level possible for my skills and abilities.  I play every game and every practice with 100% of my heart, soul and athletic ability.  It is a promise I make to myself every time I step onto the field whether in victory or defeat that I will have given all of myself to the game, my teammates, my coaches and my fans.  I never want to leave the field feeling that I could have done more.  For me, that would be the ultimate disappointment for myself. I also uphold the values of sportsmanship.

I have the greatest respect for my coaches and feel that I am very coachable.  Whatever task is asked of me, I will complete it to the very best of my ability.  I have excellent character and no coach will ever have to worry about my playing eligibility due to grades or illegal activity.

I understand that an important part of football is maintaining high academic standards in the classroom.  For me the two go hand in hand.  Football provides me with the structure and commitment I need to do well in the classroom.  That is why I aspire to play at the collegiate level.  I feel that I perform better in the classroom because of football and better on the field because of academics.  I currently maintain a 3.3 GPA in the classroom and have good relationships with my instructors.

Many of the lessons I have learned in life have come from football:  working as a team for a common goal, being a part of something bigger than myself to achieve goals I could not have accomplished alone, communication, trust in my teammates as well as myself, and overcoming adversity even in the face of defeat.  God has given me the talent to be a great athlete, the ambition to pursue it to the highest level possible, and the humility to realize that I can not do it alone.
