Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Caitlyn Marsh and i'm a Junior at Griswod High School. I've loved the game of soccer since i was six years old, and fell in love with it when i was ten, when i started playing premier and traveling to different states and tournaments. I'm looking to continue playing through my college career and play at an even better level.
I've been playing the game for about 10 years now. I played for Griswold travel soccer, then started playing premier when i was ten. I have played for the same club the last six years. Right now i am playing for the U17 Southeast Soccer Club team. During my Freshman year i was a starting Varsity player. I started as a mid-fielder, along with two Seniors. I kept my starting spot throughout the whole year. My Sophomore year, I was once again a starting mid-fielder. My Sopomore year of 2011 was the best year in history, for girls soccer, at Griswold High School. My team was ECC Small Champions. As for myself, I was all conference second team, and led my team into a winning season. My Junior year, I was once again the starting central midefielder. I made all conference second team, again. At the end of the year, I receieved the news that I will the captain of my team next year! Besides high school soccer, I play for a club team all year round; Southeast Soccer Club. I have been playing for this team for about six to seven years. We play at a high level and have played in many college showcases. In year 2011 Spring, we won, and qualified for division one competition. We had a great season.
Not only do i think that i have a lot to offer to a team, but my coaches and parents would tell you the same thing. I'm a team player and a very coachable athlete. Not only am i a hard worker on and off the field, but i'm a leader. Leadership is not someone who screams and swears at their teamates. A leader is someone who tells their teamates what they are doing wrong, and shows them how to fix it. I have always been the kind of player to make myself look good, but also make my teamates look good too. I don't get wrapped up i the drama and the stupid stuff, i'm there to play soccer. You will never see walk off the field, even if it's a losing game. You run on and off the field as a team. I have been a captain on my Southeast team before. Along with a couple other girls. It's always been my dream to play soccer in college and now i'm looking to fulfill that dream.
The type of school i'm looking for is a medium sized school and either division two, or division three. The location does not matter to me, if i get an opportunity to play somewhere out of state, and has the things that i am looking for, i'm going to take it. I want the type of school that is going to give me a great education, and the atheletic level of play that i need. My family has always been great of giving me the things that i want and need. I know that they are looking to help me with college payments, but i know it's not going to be easy for them. My desired majors are photography or teaching, but i haven't fully narrowed it down yet.
Lastly, my athletic goals are to play soccer, and the highest level possible. To play for a team where i am given optimal playing time, and on a team where i can not only showcase my skill, but grow as a player too.
