Cleveland Browns running back Kareem Hunt underwent successful sports hernia surgery to repair a ruptured adductor, per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

Hunt was on the Browns' injury report for much of the season but played through injury, per Fowler, who added that the ailment "can sideline players for at least six to eight weeks and require immediate surgery."

Hunt signed with the Browns two weeks into the 2023 campaign after Nick Chubb suffered a season-ending knee injury against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sept. 18.

He played all 15 regular season games from that point forward, rushing for 411 yards and nine touchdowns on 135 carries (3.0 YPC). The seven-year veteran also added 15 receptions for 84 yards.

Hunt also scored both of the Browns' touchdowns in a 45-14 loss to the Houston Texans in the AFC Wild Card round.

The impending free agent has played five of his seven seasons in Cleveland after spending his first two years in Kansas City. For his career, Hunt has amassed 6,326 yards and 57 scores.
