Bangladesh beat New Zealand by 43 runs on the Duckworth/Lewis method to record an impressive victory in the first ODI in Mirpur.
The star of the show was Rubel Hossain, who snared a hat-trick in remarkable figures of 6-for-26.
That contribution saw Bangladesh skittle New Zealand for 162 as they chased a revised target of 206 runs from 33 overs.
Bangladesh, who had posted 265 all out in one ball shy of their 50-over allocation, were indebted to big innings from Mushfiqur Rahim (90 from 98 balls) and Naeem Islam (84 from 115).
Those two aside, there was little bit of substance, and Tim Southee took three wickets and Jimmy Neesham four as New Zealand kept the Tigers in check.
New Zealand made a steady start, reaching 82 for three in response before the rain came.
Grant Elliott (71 from 77) and Corey Anderson (46 from 31) were the only men to truly attack the total—but Anderson was the first victim of Rubel's hat-trick, and from there there was no way back.
