Personal Statement

My name is Allison Kauahi, but I go by my middle name Kawehi (kah-VAY-hee).  I attend Punahou School in Honolulu, HI.  I play water polo for Punahou School and the Oahu Water Polo Club as a attacker/driver.  I have also been on ODP Hawaii teams in the Development , Cadet and now Youth groups.  I’ve been playing water polo for five years.   I am an attacker using my speed, quickness and arm strength to score in transition and set offense.  I use my quickness and knowledge to be in the proper defensive position whether as center defender or out on the perimeter.

I was selected to attend the 2021 Cadet National Team Selection Camp in June 28-30 in Orange County, CA.  I was also selected to attend the 2019 Development National Team Selection Camp.

I played in the 2021 Junior Olympics in Dallas, TX on July 29-August 1 with Oahu Water Polo Club 16U team .  Our team took 5th place.  In 8 games,  I scored 25 goals, made 24 steals and had 14 assists   I was named Junior Olympics 2nd Team All-American.

After my first two seasons of high school water polo being cancelled, we had a full season in my Junior year.  We ended up going 14-0 winning our 13th consecutive league championship and our 13th consecutive State championship.  I was the leading scorer in our league this season.  I was named as an Interscholastic League of Honolulu first team All-Star as a junior.

I played in the 2022 Junior Olympics in San Jose, CA on July 21-24 with Oahu Water Polo Club 18U team.  Our team took 6th place in the Gold division.  In 8 games I scored 19 goals.


I also swim for Punahou School and Punahou Aquatics Swim Club.  I am a free style sprinter and breaststroker.   I qualified for the State High School Championships in 2021 in the 100 Breaststroke.  I am interested in playing water polo in college following my two older sisters.  My oldest sister Maddie Kauahi played water polo for two years and All-American swimmer for four years for Pomona-Pitzer while attending Pitzer College.  My older sister Dani Kauahi graduated from UCSB where  she played water polo for the Gauchos.
